Sam’s has announced it is to sell healthy pregnancy snack brands on Amazon in a bid to boost sales of its namesake food.
The retailer has already introduced its first product on Amazon and is expected to launch a number of similar products this month, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
“In the months ahead, we will be launching a range of new healthy pregnancy foods, including the products you’ve been asking for, to support you and your family,” the statement said.
Sam’s co-founder Sam Walton, the founder of the world’s largest retailer, said the aim was to create “a healthier world for children”.
“We’re proud of the work we’ve done with partners like Target and Walmart to create a healthy family with children who can thrive in a healthy world, and this is part of our mission to do that,” he said.
“This will help bring more families to our stores, and help to ensure that healthy choices and healthy products are available for our customers, including those who don’t have a family.”
The products will be available on Amazon through its grocery store, its online grocery store and the Sam’s mobile app, the statement added.
Earlier this year, Walmart introduced its own line of healthy pregnancy products, including a bag of baby food, which is sold in the online grocery stores.
Walmart also introduced a “fitness” line of pregnancy products last year, and also plans to launch several new brands this month.
The new Sam’s line will be introduced on a number at Walmart stores around the world this month and will include “a healthy pregnancy nutrition pack”, a bag that contains a “baby meal”, a “beverage box” and “fertility supplies” according to the company.
The retailer also plans several new health and wellness brands to launch later this year.
Last year, Amazon launched its own health and fitness section, called Amazon Fitness.
However, the new products will not include the fitness category and the Walmart line will not be included, the retailer said.
Walmart has also announced that it is introducing a number more new health products this year including its own range of healthy snacks, which will be priced at $3.99 each.
