Korean snack bar chain ‘The World Is Full of People Who Eat Food and Drink Water’ is getting the green light from the Japanese food giants.
The new franchise will be located in Osaka, Japan, and it will be the first of its kind in the region.
‘We are extremely excited to open the new franchise in Osaka,’ CEO Kazuhiro Nakamura said in a press release.
‘The opening of our first franchise will benefit our customers who have been asking us to open a franchise in the city of Osaka.’
In addition to the new brand, the company has plans to expand into a second location in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture, with the first planned for the fall of 2018.
The chain, which is owned by Japanese company SoftBank, opened in December 2017 in Osaka and is currently operating in over a dozen cities across Japan.
It will have over 100 stores across the country, and has plans for more than 200 new outlets across Japan by 2021.
The Japanese brand is currently one of the most successful in the world, with over 10,000 outlets in 20 countries, according to Forbes magazine.
Its flagship product, the kimchi and miso soup, has over a billion yen in sales annually, according the company.
K-Pop star Park Bom, who recently appeared on The Big Bang Theory, will open a K-Mart and a snack bar at the Osaka franchise, as well as launching an e-commerce platform.
Park Bom recently appeared in the ‘The Big Bang’ season premiere, and she recently told The Huffington Post that the new venture will help the K-pop star’s career reach the highest levels.
‘I have been very motivated to get to this point,’ she said.
‘It is an honor to be in the spotlight with a new K-mart and a new snack bar that has become the new K’s and the new kimchis.’
